HOLLY, MI — The Village of Holly officially concluded its Second Annual Boil Water Festival Tuesday morning, marking the occasion by permitting residents to drink tap water in its original, dangerously convenient form.

Officials celebrated with the ceremonial First Unboiled Glass while residents packed away kettles, emergency stockpots, and several hundred bottles of water purchased during the traditional Meijer Panic.

“It’s always bittersweet,” said resident Barb Tillingham. “You spend three days boiling water together, and suddenly everyone just goes back to trusting the pipes.”

The Village has not announced dates for next year’s festival, though residents were advised not to store their kettles anywhere difficult to reach.
